Privacy Policy

This policy explains what NewKinda LLC collects when you use NEWKINDA Webtop at webtop.net, why, and what you can do about it. We have tried to describe what the software actually does rather than reserve every right we could imagine.

What we collect

Information you give us

• Account details — username, email address, and a password (stored only as a one-way hash, never in a form we can read).
• Your webtop content — the bookmarks and URLs you save, folder names, icon choices, grid positions, webtop names, and any background image you upload.
• Folder passwords — if you lock a folder, stored as a one-way hash like your account password.
• Messages — messages you send to other users through the in-app chat, and messages you send us through the contact form.
• Reports — content or users you report, and the reason you gave.

Information collected automatically

• IP address — we record the IP address of your most recent sign-in. We use it to enforce bans, to rate-limit sign-in and sign-up attempts, and to investigate abuse.
• Cookies — we set cookies to keep you signed in. These are strictly necessary for the Service to function. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies, and we do not run analytics that profile you.

Payment information

Payments are handled by Stripe. We never receive or store your card number. What we store is a Stripe customer identifier, which plan you are on, and your subscription's status and renewal date. Stripe's own handling of your data is covered by Stripe's privacy policy.

Why we use it

• To provide the Service — showing you your webtop, and showing shared webtops to the people you shared them with.
• To operate your account — signing you in, verifying your email, and sending security notices when your email or password changes.
• To take payment and manage subscriptions.
• To keep the Service safe — acting on reports, enforcing bans, and limiting automated abuse.
• To answer you when you contact us.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use your bookmarks to build a profile of you.

Who we share it with

We share data only with the service providers needed to run Webtop:

• Amazon Web Services — hosting, database storage, uploaded background images, and outbound email.
• Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect the rights or safety of our users or of NewKinda LLC.

What other people can see

What we can see

A private webtop is private from other users, not from us. Our administrators can view, and where necessary edit or remove, content in any account regardless of its privacy setting — including locked folders. We use that access only to:

• investigate a report, or a suspected breach of our Terms of Service;
• help you with a support request you have made;
• diagnose a technical fault;
• comply with the law.

Administrator access to an account is recorded in an internal audit log. We do not browse private webtops for any other reason, and we never sell or share their contents.

Folder passwords are stored as one-way hashes, so we cannot recover the password itself — but a folder locked with one is not encrypted, and its contents are visible to an administrator. Please do not use Webtop to store anything whose exposure would seriously harm you: it is a bookmark organiser, not a password manager or a vault.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. Deleting an item moves it to your recycle bin, where it stays until you empty the bin. When you delete your account we remove your account and its content; some records may be retained where we need them for a legal or accounting obligation — payment records above all — and backups may persist for a limited period before rotating out.

Your choices and rights

• Access and correction — your account page shows the personal information we hold and lets you change your username, email and password.
• Deletion — you can delete your account yourself from the Account page, at any time, without contacting us.
• Export or questions — contact us and we will help.

Depending on where you live you may have additional rights — for example under the GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act — including rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal information, and to complain to a supervisory authority. To exercise any of these, contact us at support@newkinda.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them.

Security

Passwords and folder passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Traffic to webtop.net is encrypted in transit. Sessions expire and can be revoked by signing out, and changing your password signs out every other device. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — but we will tell affected users if we become aware of a breach involving their personal information.

Children

Webtop is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

International users

Webtop is operated from the United States and your information is stored and processed there. If you use the Service from outside the US, you understand your information is transferred to the US, where data protection law may differ from your own.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be notified to account holders by email or in the app. The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version.
